The funeral of Christina-Taylor Green, 9, who was shot to death along with five others, in an assassination attempt on congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords outside a Safeway store, took place on January 13, 2011. Numerous others were injured in the shooting spree. About 200 members of motorcycle groups stood watch out of the service. Some said that their presence was not only to pay their respects, but also to discourage picketers who initially announced they would demonstrate at the service.
