Australian pelican (Pelecanus conspicillatus) preening itself. Preening is the cleaning and oiling of feathers to keep them in good condition. The Australian pelican inhabits inland and coastal waters in Australia, New Guinea, Indonesia and Fiji. It can reach metres in length with a wingspan of up to metres. It feeds almost exclusively on fish.
