Figs. 5 and 6, consisted of a circularchamber 7n, lined witli fire-brick ; it was contracted above toa circular opening, in which was fixed a cast-iron collar ee;it was closed at the bottom by a cast-iron bed-plate aa, inwhich were twelve holes sjanmetrically arranged round onelarger hole in the centre k, through which the ashes andclinkers could be withdrawn from time to time.
