Birth of a Gun- the Production of a 25 Pounder Field Gun, 1942 Men at work in the production of a 25 pounder gun at a factory, somewhere in Britain. Once the steel ingot is the right temperature, it is seized by a gang of workers and swung into position under a drop hammer. Four men hold a long pole at the end of which is the ingot, whilst another worker lifts the sliding gate which separates off the furnace from the rest of the workshop.
