Jean-Marc Aveline, Cardinal of Marseille, officially appeals for donations to restore the gilding on the statue of Notre Dame de la Garde and carry out the necessary restorations in the Basilica, the estimated amount is about 2 million 470 thousand Euros. Every thirty years or so, the gilding on the statue of Notre Dame de la Garde has to be renovated to ensure its longevity. At a press conference, Cardinal Aveline of the Marseille diocese appealed for donations to finance the restoration and consolidation work on the basilica.
