Whiledoing graduate work in the Uni-versity he taught for two yearsin Princeton Preparatory awarded the A. M. de-gree to him in 1890. The sameyear he entered the Universityof Leipzig. In 1891 he was en-gaged as an Instructor in Eco-nomics at Wesleyan Universityin Middletown, Conn. In 1892he was called to Princeton Uni-versity and made Assistant Pro-fessor of Political Economy;and three years later he waselected Professor of PoliticalEconomy. He was still holduigthis chair when, in 1911, Gov-ernor Wilson tendered him a place on the Puplic Utility Commission ofNew Jersev. He served on that board until Gov. Wilson, havmg become. lis Davis President of the United States, nominated him to a place on the InterstateCommerce Commission. A vacancy had occured in the Commission; andthe origuial appointment was to All an unexpired term to end January 1st,1917. He was re-appc»inted for a full term and wan confirmed by theSenate in January, 1917. Commissioner Daniels served for several years as ad interim editorialwriter on the staff of the New York Evening Post; and for three yearsas Secretary and Treasurer of the American Economic Association, Hehas published a volume entitled Elements of Public Finance, and alsovarious economic and literary studies for the periodical publications. Commissioner Daniels is a member of the Cosmos Club. Washington,D. C, and of the Transportation Club of Chicago; and, though his officialduties make a residence
