AVhiteLeghorn on White Wyandotte are excellent layers, andpullets can be selected which lay a fairly dark coloredcsfsr. Crosses of such similar breeds, as AVhitc andBrown Leghorn, give splendid vigor. White Leghornon Light Brahma, and the i)rogeny bred back to thtLeghorns, has been a popular cross for 260 PROFITS IN POULTKY. The objection to crosses repeated every year is tl)at noprogress is made beyond the first year, the cross-bredmales not being desirable for breeding. By grading upthe flock, however, this difficulty is avoided. Males otthe same breed are used each successive year, and theflock each year becomes more like the pure breed, untilat last it is practically identical with that breed. Butbeing a cross and containing some outside blood, and noinbreeding having been practiced, the hens have finevigor and are an improvement on the pure breed.
