In civil life he is a successfulbusiness man, having been engagedlargely in merchandising. He has beenmanager of the Draper Co-op, is atpresent managing the Draper Mercan-tile and Manufacturing Co., and repre-sents one of the largest manufactur-ing houses in the west. PEARSON, Henry, a prominentElder in the Draper Ward, Salt Lakecounty, Utah, is the son of Ole andAnna Pearson, and was born in theprovince of Scona, Sweden, June 8,1839. His mother died when he was. I yet an infant, and he, together, withhis sister, was taken by a Swedish no-bleman, aifd earl, into his family, andthere raised. Henry attended the pub-lic school, and later the high school atMalmo. The earl desired that the boyshould be sent to the Military Aca-demy, but his father (who was in theemploy of the earl) wanted his son tolearn a trade, and his wish , Henry was apprenticedto learn the cabinet makers trade inthe city of Malmo. His father havingbecome a convert to Mormonism, hemade his son acquainted with its prin-ciples of the gospel, and notwithstand-ing that much pressure of an adverse nature was brought to bear upon him,he remained true to his convictions,and was baptized into the Church , 1856, by Elder Nils B.
