Close-up of the mouth of a 45 year old man who has been fitted with a new dental bridge to replace an older one. This bridge replaces the missing upper incisors. The upper premolars and canine teeth were filed down and shaped to accommodate the new bridge. Here, due to the height of the upper alveolar arch, a metal ceramic bridge has been used that includes artificial gum. Crowns, bridges and dentures are prosthetic teeth fitted to replace missing teeth, or teeth too damaged to be repaired. To see the mouth before the bridge see C037/3015.
