PETCHORA 255 Many houses in the villages were richly coloured andornamented under the eaves,principally in red, blue,brown, and white jujubespots. The curious clunisj hingesof the gates also attractedour attention. The uprightpost of the gate turns in thehole in the block which isfirmly fixed in a strong sup-porting post alongside. We slept well during thenight, which was cloudy andnot cold; and at arrived at Bolshannis-sagorskaia. A^ril Monday, the 12th of April, at Bolshannissagorskaia,we found in the station-house the Government official.
