George Wiley, the Task Force Power Restoration Operations Officer, and Tom Decker of the Army Engineer Research and Development Center discuss ideal micro-grid placement for the island of Puerto Rico, Jan. 26, 2018. Task Force Power Restoration recently invited Decker an Operational Energy Program Manager from ERDC’s Construction Engineering Research Laboratory to evaluate the current process with recommendations for improving sustainability, efficiency, and cost effectiveness through automation and the possibility of energy storage applications. Decker was able to visit five existing sites and one future sites, and see opportunities for ERDC-CERL to work together on this current mission and future disaster responses.
