The most important agricultural grass for the Middle States, thriving best upon rich soils. Not suited to per- manent pasturage, but the best grass known here for hay-making pur- poses. It is temporary, lasting but a few years, and is a part of the usual crop rotation. Sow \ bushel to the acre when used alone ; 8 or 10 quarts if used with other grass seeds. 45 lbs. to the bushel.
