German prisoners from the Second Battle of Artois, France, World War I, 1915. The Second Battle of Artois was the final Allied offensive of the spring of 1915. It achieved little in terms of territorial gain and cost the French army 100,000 casualties and the Germans 70,000. A print from Le Pays de France, 19th August 1915. The photographer is unknown.
