Pas-senger vehicles, excepting the bicycle and tricycle,have their springs resting direct upon their axles; thisbicycle has its springs resting upon the tops of twoforks, whose legs rest upon their axles; this in prac-tice gives the same result. The principle of thebicycle spring arrangement is identical with that ofthe locomotive engine—viz., it has side rods or forksextending from the axles to the springs, workingthrough guides upon its frame.
