Founded in 1546 by King Henry VIII, Christ Church College, Oxford is uniquely a joint foundation of the university and the cathedral of the Oxford diocese, Christ Church Cathedral, which also serves as the college chapel and whose dean is also the college head. This large, opulent College remains one of the oldest, richest and most aristocratic of the Oxford University Colleges. Here we see the facade which faces its water meadows, and a stack of sculls parked innocuously outside.
