The historical landmark ruins of the 7th century Abbey of St. Hilda at Whitby in North Yorkshire, Britain. The Abbey was part of King Henry’s V111 ‘Dissolution of the Monasteries’ in the 15th century. On 16th December 1914, the Abbey was shelled by a German battle cruiser - the first such attack on the mainland during the 1st World War.
