To lessen the breakageof the sliver as it is drawn from the cans, an auxiliary lifting roll isprovided at the back of the machine. The machine may be fitted with either direct weighted or SelfBalanced Rails as preferred. It is fitted, if desired, with case-hardened front steel rolls, shell front top rolls, self-oiling steps, andsheet steel gear casings. As will be noted in the illustrations onthe two preceding pages, the driving pulley arbor is supported bya yoke which insures freedom from vibration and ease of operation. For Productions, etc., see our 1912 catalog of Cotton Card-Room Machinery, pages 108 to inclusive. Page 46. RING SPINNING FRAME The spinning frame used on the coiler system has a numbcrof special features to fit it particularly for this waste work. It hasa special arrangement of bottom steel rolls and top rolls so as tofacilitate the setting of the frame for this class of work. Thismachine is built in a wide gauge, with large special rings and a longtra\erse. The illustration shows the frame equipped with the TapeDrive Spindle. It can be built either with the band or tape drive,as desired. The tape drive lends itself, perhaps, more appropriatelyto this class of work than the ordinary band drive. The tape driveframe shown has a specially designed geared end which facilitatesall changes in the gearing, and accidents to operatives are avoidedby the use of light steel panels, which completely enclose all workingparts. The spindles used are the well-known Whitin GravityImpro
