Fig. 174 shows an incinerator in use by the Koyal Com- mission on Tuberculosis at Stansted, for the cremation of the carcases of animals which have died, and the destruc- tion of their litter and excreta. The charging hole is on the top, and the carcase has first to be cut up. In order to destroy all smell, the gases of combustion are passed through a second furnace—the door of which can be seen at the side—so that before reaching the chimney they are entirely destroyed.
