ITALY : FIFTH ARMYANZIO BRIDGEHEAD - Commanding 1st Division of British troops on the Anzio bridgehead is Major-General Penney, CBE.,DSO.,MC. He is seen conferring with his Chief Staff Officer, Lieut. Colonel Thubron - North Staffs Regiment. The General recently had a narrow escape from serious injury when a 210 mm shell exploded against a tree alongside which his caravan was parked. He was asleep at the time and despite the complete demolition of his caravan he was only slightly hurt, though his face bears the scar of the incident still British Army
