The beauty of Tallital area early in the morning showing Naini Lake and Bishop shaw inter-college building situated at Tallital, Nainital, Uttarakhand (India), Nainital, Uttarakhand (India) Dreamland Nainital is a popular hill station in the Indian state of Uttarakhand, in the Kumaon foothills of the outer Himalayas named after the Goddess Naina Devi, also known as the ‘Gateway to Kumaon Himalayas’ and the Lake District of India. It was discovered by Traill in 1841. Situated at an altitude of 2,084 meters (6,837 ft.) above sea level, set in two parts, Tallital and mallital, with a pear shaped Naini Lake, approximately two miles in circumference surrounded by high mountains of which the highest are Naina peak or Chenna Peak 2,615 meters (8,579 feet) on the north, Deopatha (2,438m (7,999ft)) on the west, and Ayarpatha (2,278m (7474 ft.) on the south. From the top of the Naina or Chenna Peak a magnificent panoramic view can be obtained of snow covered Himalayan ranges. Some famous places to visit in Nainital are- Nainital Lake, Goddess naina Devi’s Temple, Kainchi Dham, Mukteshwar Temple, Eco Cave Gardens, Naina or Chenna Peak, Tiffin Top (Dorothy’s Seat), High Altitude Zoo; Sonapani Himalayan Village, Pangot and Kilbury Bird Sanctuary, Snow View Point and Astronomical Observatory.
