Thebeautiful garlands or strings produced foundappreciative buyers, and soon he engaged inSmilax culture for commercial purposes on aconsiderable scale. From that time on the useof the plant developed rapidly wherever therewas a trade in cut flowers, and this gentlemanlived to see the day when hundreds of greenhouseswere devoted exclusively to growing the vine.
