The aerial refueling capabilities of the HC-130J increases the combat range of rescue forces, supporting prolonged missions. The 71st RQS conducted an air-to-air refuel with a KC-46A Pegasus assigned to the 916th Air Refueling Wing, Seymour Johnson Air Force Base, North Carolina as the first operational unit to be refueled by the KC-46A Pegasus.
