Detail of Granite Rock Formations on the Cornish Coastal Footpath Near Porthgwarra. Carn Bara, Porthgwarra near Lands End, Cornwall, England
Autumn Cornish footpath landscape. This part of the South West footpath gives excellent views of the rugged Cornish coastline near Lands End. The mighty granite cliffs are pounded by the Atlantic Ocean. This image was captured in early autumn and shows the colour of the granite and native plants including the parasitic Dodder (Cuscuta epithymum). The granite outcrop is near Folly Cove. Choughs (Pyrrhocorax pyrrhocorax) have been reintroduced here and can be seen flying overhead. Scenes from the popular television series ‘Poldark’ were filmed near here.
