But, ouentering the office of John MacLean, the Chairman of theCommittee on Arrangements for the Gathering, I found thatgentlemans face beaming with smiles, for his mind was in ahappy frame over the success of the Gathering. The numberspresent at the meeting far exceeded expectations, the weatherwas all that could be desired, and the arrangements carriedout to a full satisfaction, without a hitch or any incident tomar the occasion. All in attendance had expressed themselves assatisfied beyond their expectations. Mr. MacLean informed me that there appeared to be ageneral desire that the occasion, with its proceedings, should bepreserved in permanent form; that he had been requested totake up the work, and, still others had suggested him, thatthe writer should assume the burden.
