Andrea Rossi (born 1950), Italian inventor and cold fusion researcher. Rossi, assisted by Italian physicist Sergio Focardi, designed the E-Cat (Energy Catalyzer) cold fusion (Low-Energy Nuclear Reaction, LENR) system. Several demonstrations took place in 2011. It is claimed that the E-Cat system generates energy from a nickel-hydrogen reactor that converts the nickel into copper and releases heat. Sceptics have rejected these claims and patent applications have failed. Rossi has also worked on thermoelectric devices to generate electricity from waste heat. Photographed at the E-Cat demonstration that took place on 6 October 2011, in Bologna, Italy.
