Guildford Post Office is one of the town’s most prominent landmarks and still operates today as a postal agency. Built in 1897, the magnificent historic building takes pride of place on the main street of this well preserved town. Built in the Victorian Italianate architectural style, alterations were carried out in 1901. The beautiful clock and bell tower were added to the Post Office four years after the building was completed. Whilst the bell still remains in the tower, it is no longer rung. The post office sits on the site of an old convict depot hospital in the heart of the charming town of Guildford, just 20 minutes drive east of Perth. The entire town has been classified by the National Trust and as a result offers many historical buildings worth exploring.
