Mr. DeMoranville's monthly arti- cle will appear in these pages next month, as usual. *********«I ?»» WISCONSIN 4MIIII IIIIIMI** To make a change in a marketing order requires a public hearing, and cranberry growers in Wisconsin have recently been issued invita- tions to such a hearing by the Secretary of Agriculture of that state. The public hearing gives all the proponents and opponents of the change an opportunity to present facts which will help the Secretary of Agriculture to prepare a decision. If his decision is favor- able, it would be submitted to the growers for a mail referendum. The decision concerns a recom- mendation from the State Cran- berry Marketing Order Advisory Council of Wisconsin to increase the market order assessment from 2^ to 34 per barrel of cranberries marketed. The funds would be used to expand research in developir cranberry products. It would behoove local growe: to attend this hearing, which will b held in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsi on Tuesday, June 11 at 10:00 at the Wood County Courthous< Room 114. .: Weather Review November was warmer and drie y. than usual.
