The Japanese Ground Self-Defense Force is observing the bilateral exercise KAMANDAG between the United States and Philippines at the invitation of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. However, they are also participating in humanitarian and civic assistance construction efforts in Casiguran, alongside and Philippine forces, in support of exercise KAMANDAG.
