St Petersburg, Russia - 12 June 2011; no people in view. The Church of the Saviour on Spilled Blood is one of the classic sights of St. Petersburg, Russia. This magnificent Byzantine-style church was built on the spot where Czar Alexander II was assassinated in 1881. It contains over 7500 square meters of mosaics, reputedly, more than any other church in the world. Some of them are shown here.
