Greyfriars Chapel, part of the old Franciscan Friary, built astride the River Stour in Canterbury.


Greyfriars Chapel is the only remaining building of the old Franciscan Friary and dates from 1267. The chapel is a fine example of Medieval architecture. The friary was dissolved in 1538 during the reign of Henry VIII. The Franciscans didn't return to Canterbury for over 450 years! The building is open to the public during the summer and the Eucharist is celebrated there every Wednesday at
