French Parliamental Meeting about Law Proposition to Punish Clients of Prostitution, "Sarah-Marie MAFFESOLI" "This week saw the release of a report on prostitution in France which contains about thirty suggestions for measures to be considered and those suggestions are being studied by Socialist deputy Danielle Bousquet and UMP deputy Guy Geoffroy, the law proposition’s sponsor. They hope that the proposition will end up in parliament before next year’s presidential elections. The passive solicitation of clients by France’s estimated 18 to 20,000 prostitutes is already illegal, but the law’s supporters want to follow Sweden’s example by introducing a 6-month prison sentence or a €3000 fine for those who seek out prostitutes."
