Beyond the Devil's Pulpit
The gorge at Finnich Glen, also known locally as the Devil's Pulpit appears briefly in episode 6 of Outlander (The Garrison Commander) of season 1. It is also used in scenes in the film ' The Eagle' and the film 'King Arthur: Legend of the Sword'. The gorge is 100ft deep, at times very narrow, with sheer, dripping moss-covered walls. A 200 year old stone stairway in poor repair is one way down to the bottom of the gorge. The subject of various stories and legends the location was popular with locals long before these films, which have increased the number of visitors.
