Costume of St. Valery en Caux. The bonnet is larger but not as tall as that of Bolbec, and the chignon is shorter. Hand-colored fashion plate illustration by Lante engraved by Gatine from Louis-Marie Lante's "Costumes des femmes du Pays de Caux," 1827/1885. With their tall Alsation lace hats, the women of Caux and Normandy were famous for the elegance and style.
