US Marines from MAG (Marine Aircraft Group) 36 are setting up tents and shelters near the beach, approximately 50 miles south of Danang, Vietnam on September 2, 1965. This deployment is intended to support helicopter operations in the region. Additional Marines can be seen coming ashore from the USS Princeton in the background. Camp, flight line, and more permanent housing construction are already underway. The Group Crash Crew is present, manning fire trucks, while helicopters continue to be brought ashore.
