The steamer Beaubocage, which pliesbetween Lindsay and Bobcaygeon, would evidently associate the 56 SUMMER RESOR TS. name with the French explorers, and to their outspoken admirationof the lovely woodlands on these waters. Without doubt, thefishing in this neighborhood is the very finest to be had in thecountry. The village is surrounded by water on all sides, and theripples of the falls can be plainly heard. There is excellent hunt-ing to be had in these parts; deer abound, and guides are readilyprocured, the season lasting from October 15th to December was founded by the ancestors of Mr. Mossum Boyd, agentleman resident here, whose generous hospitality has been freelygranted to many a seeker of sport in his locality. From this placea pleasant excursion by means of the Trent Valley Navigation PORT PERRY. Steamers may be made to Sturgeon Point, where is located one ofthe best summer hotels in Canada, with capital fishing near by;thence through Sturgeon Lake and Scugog River to Lindsay. Lindsay, charmingly situated on the Scugog River, is one ofthe pleasantest of the inland towns of Canada. It has a populationof upwards of 5,000 inhabitants; is the county seat of VictoriaCounty, contains the county buildings, and several fine churchesand schools, while its river facilities offer many pleasant excursionsby water.
