In 1889 the British South Africa Company wasformed to acquire mining and other rights in un-developed lands inhabited by the Mashonas, Mata-beles, and other native tribes, and to which hassince been given the name Rhodesia. Communi-cation has been established with Rhodesia by railfrom Cape Town to Buluwayo. the latter beingof greater importance than Salisbury, the Rhode-sian capital.
