An explanatory plaque on a plinth within the atmospheric and dramatic setting of Castlerigg ancient stone circle (Castle Lane, Underskiddaw, Keswick, Cumbria, CA12 4RN, UK). The circle has panoramic views all round including the mountains of Helvellyn and High Seat as a backdrop. It was constructed circa 3000 /400BC during the Neolithic period.
