The Bird and Flower Market Kowloon Hong Kong On Yuen Po Street 10 minutes from the Prince Edward MTR station this garden replaced the old Bird Market whose narrow streets of bird shops have been redeveloped What the garden lacks in spontaneous tumult it makes up for with an attractive outdoor setting in the shadow of the Kowloon Canton Railway KCR railroad tracks and the rumble of each passing train sends the birds into a frenzy The garden is composed of various courtyards filled with trees and surrounded by 70 stalls selling birds cages and such accoutrements as tiny porcelain feeders and fresh grasshoppers Plenty of free birds also swoop in to gorge on spilled food and commiserate with their imprisoned brethren If you walk from the MTR you ll enjoy an aromatic approach through the flower market Take the Police Station exit walk east along Prince Edward Road for three short blocks then turn left onto Sai Yee Street and then right onto Flower Market Road The bird garden is at the end of this flower market street
