The merit of this non-saccharine sorg-hum is, that when cut for feeding it starts again from the remaining stumps with renewed strength and vigor. Thrives in the hottest and driest localities. Grows about three feet high, with one large head on main stalk and several smaller heads on side shoots. The grains are white and nearly- flat. Lb., 20c.: 100 lbs., $ HEMP. If raised for manufacturing must be sown broadcast at the rate of one-half bushel to the acre; if for seed, should be planted in hills four feet apart, and the plants' thinned out to three or four most vigorous stems in each hill.
