Bradley died in Washington, District ofColumbia, Jan. 25, 1892. BRADLEY, William OConnell, governor ofKentucky, an American statesman; born in Lan-caster, Garrard County, Kentucky, March 18,1847. He enlisted in the Federal army at theage of 14, and three years later was admitted tothe bar by a special act of the legislature. In1870 he was elected prosecuting attorney, and in1872 and 1876 made the race for Congress, butwas defeated. In 1880 he was a delegate-at-large to the Chicago convention and secondedthe nomination of Grant. He was again a dele-gate in 1884 and a member of the national com-mittee President Arthur selected him to aid in. JOSEPH F. BRADLEY. prosecuting the Star Route thieves, but a differ-ence with the Attorney-general caused him to giveup the appointment. In 1887 he ran for gover-nor against General Buckner, and cut down theDemocratic majority very largely, running about3,000 votes ahead of his ticket. He was at thehead of the Kentucky delegation to the nationalRepublican conventions of 1888 and 1892, and in1895 ^^is elected governor of Kentucky. BRADSHAW, Henry, an English bibliog-rapher; born in London, Feb. 2, 1831. He waseducated at Kings College, Cambridge, becom-ing a fellow in 1853; and after having beenassistant librarian, he was appointed chief libra-rian in 1867. His knowledge of bibliography wasunequaled, and his stores of information wereever at the service of students in all departmentsof literature, which proved a resource of thegreatest benefit to those who drew upon it.
