Tdere haa been much said recently inthe newspapers and elsewhere about theJersey cows that have been sent to , preparatory to the ereat dairy cowdemonstration there this year: the fabu-lous prices at which they are held by theirowners; how they were shipped in paddedpalace cars, with attendants; how theywere being trained and pampered for theoccasioi, and a lot of other misleadingnonsense, all calculated to do the breedan injustice, writes W. Gettys of Tennes-see to the Country Gentleman. The onlyobject the American Jersey Cattle Clubhad in this enterprise was again to dem-onstrate, in a public way, the superiorityof the Jersey cow for dairy purposes, andto do it with such cows and along suchpractical lines that it would be an objectlesson to the intelligent dairymen of thecountry. The selection of the cows andtheir treatment since they were sent toSt. Louis have been with this end in assisted in the selection and as-sembling of these cows
