Thonghaiheen Xaiyalam Temple is best known for its Big Buddha, it is part of Hai Hin Mixayyaram Temple and is relatively new, replacing Four Bowls Temple destroyed during the war. The purpose of building this new temple was to restore ancient artifacts and serve as a Dharma Practice institute for Xienghkhoung Province people and other Lao. This endeavor was headed by the venerable monk Khamma Panyayavichit. The temple provides a 360 degree view from its hilltop overlooking the countryside, the Plain of Jars and the town of Phonsavanh.
