This Rossall Beach Trail information panel, north of Cleveleys, reads: 'Sea Beet. Beetroot and sugar beet are both cultivated forms of sea beet. Plants that grow here are specially adapted to dry, salty conditions with special leaves and long roots to search out moisture. Some will disappear in winter and re-grow each spring.
