09/02/21 Golden retrievers, Erin and Lacey watch. Video: Not put off by heavy snowfall brought by Storm Darcy, horse logger, Jonathan Booty uses his eight-year-old shire horse, Frank, to clear timber from a beautiful, three hectare, mixed woodland near Holywell, Lincolnshire close to the border with Rutland. Compared to heavy vehicles and machines the pair leave almost no trace of their work despite the slippery and wet conditions. Jonathan and other horse loggers across the UK are often called to work in Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSIs) where there is unique or rare flora and fauna where the woodland has to be managed carefully.
