Bochum, Germany, 2019. In a pilot project, the first patients at Bochum University Hospital Bergmannsheil have successfully completed a training session to steer a wheelchair through thought power. The pilot project for the so-called Brain Computer Interface (BCI), the interface between the brain and the computer, has been running for about a year at the hospital in the Ruhr area. Four patients have now completed the twelve-week training successfully and are able to drive a course with different direction changes with the power of their thoughts.
