An elderly man walks through a tree lined street in Letchworth, the world's first Garden City designed by Ebenezer Howard to marry the best of urban and rural living. In his 1898 book "Tomorrow: A Peaceful Path to Reform" (later, "Garden Cities of Tomorrow") Ebenezer Howard founded the Garden Cities Association which led to the first garden city in Letchworth in 1903. It was followed in 1920 by a second garden city at Welwyn.
