A sadhu stands under an umbrella while standing on shoes of nails at Talakkad in Karnataka. He collects alms at the Panchalinga Festival, which takes place once every twelve years at the site. For the remainder of the time the temples remain buried under sand. The temples are swept clean shortly before the festival begins.
