Green, pink & yellow 'Protect the Human' Amnesty International plastic charity collections tins. Cirencester, Gloucestershire,

“Street collections have been the mainstay of our fundraising for a number of years (too many to count) and we usually have two a year, one in June and one at the beginning of December, both on Saturdays. We target the town centre and have a number of key positions where we reckon there is a regular flow of shoppers. We avoid standing on supermarket premises as they need separate permission. Usually we will have about five or six collectors on these sites every hour and we aim to start at 9am and continue until mid afternoon. The organisational responsibilities are shared between group members, I book the dates and apply for the license from the local council well in advance, usually in January, and make sure we return completed accounts after each collection. Finally we take it in turns to host “The Count” a day or two later where a group of us sit and open the boxes, count each collectors total (they like to know) and then bag the money and arrive at the grand total.
