The customer lookedover the horse for a moment andasked the price of it. The sellerasked five hundred dollars. Theother man hesitated a little whileand then said, I will give you seventy-five dollars. Theseller said, Well, it is coming down an awful long way, but Iguess I will take it. That is what you are up against now. Youare coming down an awful way from the previous speakers tomyself, but you will have to put up with it for a little while.(Applause.). We arecelebrating a magnificent event as well as holding at the sametime two Conventions, that of the National Republican Leagueand that of the State Republican League, and while those in chargeof the celebration have insisted that partisan politics must beleft out as much as possible during the celebration, I believe thata Convention of the State League of Republican Clubs is the placewhere a man can stand on the platform of stalwart republicanismand speak for the candidates on the ticket. (Applause.)
