Chester Cathedral nave to east


Chester Cathedral, nave to east. Columns on south side (right) begun 1360, those on north completed 1490. Ceiling vaulting restored by George Gilbert Scott , using oak ribs (to save weight). Gilded bosses cleaned 1997. Cathedral was formerly StÊWerburgh's Abbey church of Benedictine monastery.
